Step into the past and get carried away by the wonderful stories and memories. Sometimes you even imagine yourself back in time.

The Vlaemsch Erfgoed in Groede, a historic street that tells its own story. It takes you back to the first half of the 20th century where you can get a glimpse of the old crafts and taste the typical traditional porridge cake of Groede made fresh in the bakery. Furthermore, in Groede you will find the old market surrounded by beautiful 17th-century houses and an imposing church from 1615. Between the polders of Groede, the beach and the village, stories come to life that are sure to enchant you.

Breskens is a unique fishing village in our region. Several walks take you past the most beautiful spots and tell you more about its history. The Fisheries Museum, run by local volunteers, will teach you more about the many aspects of fishing. You can even experience mining there. The lighthouse, which was established in 1868, resigned its function as a beacon for shipping years ago, and today it can be visited and you can learn about its history through the exhibition on display. 

Our region still has several active windmills. In Cadzand-Bad you will find the flourmill Nooitgedacht. This mill has a rich history and was rebuilt several times. Definitely worth a look. Also in Schoondijke, IJzendijke and Retranchement you will find old mills that are still in active service. Most mills can be visited at set times.

Discover the rich history of Sluis and Sint Anna ter Muiden, for example through the city walk "the secrets of Sluis and Sint Anna ter Muiden". With this walk you can choose different distances and it takes you past the old city walls and the only Belfry tower in the Netherlands, among other things.
